Evening Snow

I found this little beauty in our back garden one day last week - and I just couldn't resist getting my camera out...

Fruity Reds

Top: Fruity Reds.
Bottom: Apples & Tomatoes.

Two versions of the same subject, he he!
My little bowl of fruit and veg as seen from two different perspectives. Just looking at those apples is making my mouth water! :-P

A Single Berry

It's freezing here in the UK at the minute! It snowed for most of last week - and it looks as if the bad weather is set to continue for a while yet.

Anyway, I took this one on Friday. This is a close-up of the view I get of one of our holly trees from my study window. We have two beautiful holly trees - and this is what they look like covered in snow.

I wish they had more berries on them, though. Sadly, the birds ate them all. :-(

Red Leaves

The fallen leaves of a poinsettia...

Still Life with Flowers

Barren

I had a little bit of fun with this photo...

and turned it into this, he he!

Barren Beauty

I can never resist the stark beauty of nature in winter...

A Stormy Flight

Top picture: A Stormy Flight.
Bottom picture: Stormy Skies.

These two photos have quite a story to tell! I took them in June last year. The bottom one (Stormy Skies) was taken just a couple of hours before a huge thunderstorm hit us here in the North East of England, causing widespread flash flooding (just ask the poor people whose gardens were flooded!).

I took the first one (A Stormy Flight) at the same time. There were no birds in the original photo, though. I added the seagull as an afterthought, using some "bird" paintbrushes that I'd created in Photoshop.

Beauty's Dream

Again, I created this one in Photoshop, using a rose paintbrush plus...
...yes, you've guessed it, another picture of the sky.
I took the photo a couple of weeks ago and thought it would make an effective backdrop, so I began experimenting with it. I only added the roses just to see what they'd look like against a cloudy backdrop - and I was quite pleased with the result!

Evening Skies

Sometimes, I just love to sit back, relax and watch the sky! I like to sit and watch the clouds drift by - and this was no exception! I took this one a few days ago, just a couple of hours before sunset. It had rained earlier that day but, by the evening, the sun was shining brightly and there was barely a cloud in the sky (apart from this one, that is).

A Snail's Life

I couldn't resist this shot either, he he!

Purple Pansies

We have some beautiful purple pansies in our garden - and I just couldn't resist getting a couple of shots...
Unfortunately, I had to brave the rain in order to take these pictures, though. Typical British weather!

Spring Warmth, Summer Yellow

Here's 2 that I made earlier, he he!

Well, actually, the first one is a photo taken on a hot day in June a couple of years ago. We had an abundance of buttercups back then - and when I say abundance, I mean it! They were all over the park, in our gardens...
Basically, they were everywhere! A sea of yellow flowers. It was a beautiful sight!

The second picture was one that I created just a few days ago, after I'd created yet another flower brush in Photoshop. I must have tried around a dozen different colours before I settled on the soft pastel shade above.

Skies and Seagulls

Just some more shots of my two favourite subjects; skies and birds (in this case, seagulls)...

Beauty of Light

I took this photo a few days ago. Dark clouds had formed but luckily they passed, leaving us with sunshine and clear skies for the rest of the day. Perfect weather for a gentle stroll around the park (or, in my case, a good run).

The Essence of Trees

Sometimes, when taking photos, you have to be quick to get the shot that you want!
I love taking pictures of birds flying, but you have to be quick in order to do it!
Sometimes, I've been lucky and managed to get the shot I wanted, but there are other times when I haven't been so lucky.

This time, though, I just grabbed my camera and went for it!

Pink Beauty

I took this one while I was out on my travels a couple of days ago.

I don't know what it is about nature, but something attracts me to it, rather like a moth attracted to a flame (no pun intended). Perhaps it's the poet in me speaking out, or perhaps it's the desire for solitude - or even the desire to get away from it all, since I live in what I call a "concrete jungle".

I don't know exactly what attracts me to nature, but all the same, I like what I see - and if I like it, I take pictures!
